The Michelle’s range of wines has always epitomised the very best of what we do. The attributes we look for when selecting and blending this
wine are power, purity and elegance. Each candidate barrel is carefully observed throughout the year and eventually we focus on 4-5 barrels that display these qualities, but also blend together in harmony.

2019 was a lovely vintage, with very balanced ripe fruit showing lovely early expression. The parcels for the Michelle blend were kept on their skins post maceration for up to six weeks. This was in order to extract the beautiful ripe tannins that help make this wine silky and powerful.

The 667 clone from Bannockburn, always the mainstay of this wine, is joined this vintage with some 10/5 from Gibbston Valley. The latter adding a bit of exotic all-spice character to the nose and complementing the bold, silky power of Bannockburn.

Tasting Note
Mulberries, cinnamon, toasted spices, and dark plums all lift from the glass. The palate delivers the characteristic power and elegance of past Michelles’ with a long lingering finish that will only embolden with careful ageing. Enjoy now and for the next 8-14 years.
