It’s been almost a week since the launch of Paul Henry’s Pinot Noir, here’s an update on how it all went down. Stuff.co.nz wrote up a piece about the launch:

“The wine went on sale on Friday at Glengarry stores around New Zealand and sold out three hours later.

There were 650 bottles sold in the first hour.

Glengarry’s server crashed due to the online demand. A spokesperson said it had never seen such high traffic volumes in a short space of time.

Henry, who jokes about his highly attuned taste buds and advanced palate, said: ‘I have been in training for this for years, most recently fine-tuning my expertise by specialising on reds, particularly pinot noir.’”

Paul had some very excited fans at the launch. Some people queued for an hour not just to buy the wine but to meet Paul face to face! That included a woman who brought her mother in for a 70th birthday surprise… her reaction at meeting Paul was priceless!
