Depending on the day, and the phase of the moon (yes we do subscribe to the vagaries of biodynamics when it comes to tasting wines!) we get intense, almost minty black currant leaf OR a distinctly passionfruit and limey character— both delicious on any day. But what really sets this wine apart is the palate; we keep our focused bright acidity but there is a blanket of creamy fruit that softens and lengthens the wine. The slightest hint of toast adds a touch of savoury complexity, which helps suit food fantastically. Just a baby, this one will last for ages...

Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and well-concentrated with harmoniously melded aromas of gooseberries and greengages and nectarines, with nutty elements at the core. Soft herb, floral and lanolin elements are present, unfolding nuances of flint and minerals with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of green stonefruits, herbs, gooseberries and lanolin are very tightly bound and restrained in expression, but form an elegant core and line. The mouthfeel flows well, being smooth in texture with slippery acidity. The wine carries to a light, soft-textured, dry finish. This is a youthfully tight, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with a smooth flowing, slippery, dry palate. It will develop over the next 3 years. Serve with Pacific Rim fare and salads and vegetables.

This is a top buy. Grown at Renwick, in the Wairau Valley, and 50% barrel-fermented, it has a freshly scented bouquet, showing good complexity. Mouthfilling and tightly structured, it has strong, ripe melon/lime flavours, enriched by subtle oak/lees characters, and a long, dry, finely balanced finish.

On the palate - dry, fruity and vibrant texture of fresh crunchy fruit flavours, very zippy acidity, high acidity and balanced, fresh finish. All good and much to enjoy.

The 2015 Organic Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from our good mates the Linklater’s organically grown and certified Windrush and Terrace Stone Vineyards. We’ve got to know these blocks over the years and in 2015 we decided to really ramp up the texture by fermenting and ageing 50% of the wine in big and small oak barrels. We’re not trying to make Chardonnay here folks, but we thought a herbal, tropical Sauvignon Blanc with a soft, silky palate and hint of creamy toast sounded pretty good to us. For the foodies out there and super talented chefs, we think this will be a stunner to accompany your carefully thought out and lovingly prepared dishes.
