Reviews

"93% Pinot Noir and 7% Sauvignon Blanc from Harding’s Road and given 72 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 13.4% alc. and 3.2 g/L RS. Bright ruby-hued pink colour with youthful purple hues on rim. The nose is fresh and up-front with voluminous aromas of cherry fruit, and raspberries and cream, revealing confectionary notes and hints of herbs and mouthwatering minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bold and up-front flavours of dark red cherries and raspberries intermingle with fresh herbs and nuances of tamarillos. The fruit is juicy and refreshing, with good acid cut, and the wine follows a fine, textural line, the dryness balancing the fruit sweetness. Thirst-quenching herb, tamarillo and mineral notes carry through to a strong, concentrated and lingering finish. This is a bold, juicy and refreshing dry Rosé with cherry, raspberry and herb flavours. Match with antipasto, charcuterie and tapas over the next 2 years. 17.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $19.99"

"Delicious from the start, the 2014 vintage was made from Pinot Noir. Bright, light red, it is mouthfilling and fleshy, with fresh, ripe, berryish, slightly spicy flavours, generous and smooth. A very 'pretty' wine, it's full of drink-young charm."
Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines 2015
"Raspberry and ruby hues with aromas of red apple skin, red cherry and peach tea; fruity, forward and inviting bouquet. Dry with crisp acidity and freshness; flavours of raspberry, cherry, peach and red zinger tea; lively, fresh, fruity and a crisp finish. A wine to please many a palate and enhance gently fragrant cuisines."

"This is at the big end of Rosé style. Powerful aromas of cherry and raspberry lead into a flavoursome palate with a slight grip at the finish. It's more a light red than a Rosé: a great summer quaff. Very fridgeable."

"'Serious wine,' said Kaye, when reading her notes about this deep pink, bright, clean and clear rosé with its vibrant acidity (which comes across as super freshness) and an almost full bodied style. There is complexity in fruit and spice flavour on this wine; a long finish adds another string to its tasty bow."

Winemaking

The fruit was hand harvested and transported to the winery’s cool store where the bins were chilled to 2-4oC. Once down to temperature the fruit was de-stemmed and lightly crushed into open fermenters. The must was kept cold and hand plunged twice daily for 72 hours and then pressed. The juice was then cold settled, racked and fermented using Sauvignon Blanc yeasts.
