Invivo Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

The 2013 Invivo Pinot Noir in its youth is already showing huge promise for those prepared to wait! Aromatically the “coupage” of the four sub-regions can be found in the sweet cherry fruit of the Western side of Lake Dunstan, intense black plums from Northburn on the eastern flanks, earthy blackberries from Bannockburn and ethereal herbal notes from Gibbston Valley. Spicy, toasty French oak brings these aromas and flavours together in a mouth-filling palate with a long finish and bright, fresh tannin structure.

This wine will continue to improve for many years to come and will suit slow braised meats of any kind!

Reviews

“A beautifully composed Pinot, fragrant bouquet shows dark cherry, plum, clove and cedar characters with a hint of earthy mushroom complexity. The palate is succulent and rounded with fine texture and lovely fruit purity, finishing long and harmonious. Very pleasing and attractive.”
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"The 2013 vintage was hand-picked and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Floral, with full, slightly developed colour, it has good depth of spicy, slightly herbal flavours, showing a hint of development, and a fairly firm finish."

Winemaking

As in previous vintages we have sourced fruit from the four major sub-regions of Central Otago in Lowburn, Northburn, Bannockburn and Gibbston Valley. We feel that each of these areas produce wines of unique character and individual strengths. We treat each vineyard and even each clone separately throughout the life of the young wines in order to maximise their strengths but with an underlying theme of crafting each separately in order to eventually bring them all together.

The hope each vintage is that in the work we do at harvest in the winery and using our knowledge of how these wines behave under the various oak partnerships, we will eventually produce a singular wine of harmony, power and finesse, the ability to age and most of all, something that excites your palate and delivers pure pleasure. We hope the 2013 Invivo Pinot Noir delivers all of this and more….
