Eight Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2011

“Complex nose encompassing classic Wairau tropicality with herbal Awatere background notes of blackcurrant/tomato leaf. Early in its life this wine is also showing a hint of pear skin/Nashi pear fruit. Palate is at once full but with reaching acidity and finishing with sweet fruit and palate weight. Still developing, this wine will age extremely well as it finishes its lees contact.”

Rob Cameron, Invivo Winemaker

Eight Point has been named after the 8 points of the Invivo original star and also the famed, “can do” Kiwi attitude shown by winemaker Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne, founders of Invivo Wines. Invivo has been one of the most awarded and successful Kiwi wineries in the last few years despite launching in tough economic times in 2007.

Metaphorically described as the “No.8 Wire” philosophy. In the early settler days of New Zealand the people were tough and resourceful as help and supplies were a long way away and we were well known to be able to repair and create things out of very little – with the help of a little number 8 fencing wire! Eight Point embodies this attitude in wine through the positivity of Invivo’s founders, and the belief that life is about enjoyment. A little resourcefulness also helps!

The fruit was harvested at night, de-stemmed and crushed then cold settled for 48 hours. Clear juice was racked and solids vacuum filtered back to the free run. This wine was kept separate from the beginning and has spent at least 4 months on lees to develop texture.
